Ok, check this thing out. It's called a Boat Lift. But it's not just any boat lift. It's the Falkirk Wheel!
This thing is insane. Whoever designed it was a genious and an artist all in one. Beacuse both tanks (top and bottom) hold the same amount of water, and because a boat displaces its weight by volume, they are perfectly balanced.
Which means that it takes very little power to lift a boat 24 metres up to the canal!
Oh, man is it beautiful...
